Overview

Jenkins Park is a small park located on Jenkins Road in Burnt Hills in the Town of Ballston. This property has a playground area for young children consisting of a swing set, merry-go-round, slide, see-saws, a fire truck climber, giraffe climber, jungle gym, three ride-on toys, and a large sandbox. There is a horseshoe pit area, a pavilion with four picnic tables, and three additional picnic tables in the playground area. There are two ponds for fishing in the spring and summer, or ice skating and hockey in the winter. The small hill is a popular gathering place for winter sledding and amateur snowboarders. There are many trails throughout the park for hiking and/or cross-country skiing. There is a baseball field, a basketball court, and open spaces for passive recreation.

Jenkins Park is operated as a Park District with its own set of bylaws and an Advisory Board consisting of nine Park District residents (7 members and 2 alternates). Jenkins Park was formed 60 years ago as a Park District, with bylaws dating back to 1954. This small Park District financially supports all the operations of Jenkins Park. The members of the Jenkins Park Advisory Board volunteer tirelessly on projects at the park and also advise the Town Board of improvements, maintenance, and appropriations needed to carry out Jenkins Park operations.
